(May 12, 2011) (Ranson, WV) The Eastern Panhandle Free Clinic is pleased to announce the following community members have joined our Board of Directors:  Elizabeth Layne Diehl, J.D., Sarah Hinkle, J.D., Terry Walker and Jeffrey Whyte, M.D.

Elizabeth Layne Diehl, J.D. has over ten years of experience in higher education law and administration and will be opening her own law practice in the summer of 2011.  Mrs. Diehl most recently served as Executive Vice President and Provost at Mountain State University.  Mrs. Diehl currently serves as the Region IX Planning and Development Council Chairperson, serves on the Gateway New Economy Council, a member of the board for the Eastern Panhandle Inland Port Coalition, the Berkeley County Development Authority, Ryan Film Institute, is on the Women’s Advisory Council for the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.  Mrs. Diehl holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concord University and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from West Virginia University College of Law.

Sarah L. Hinkle, J.D.,  is a consumer rights and employment litigation attorney with DavidHinkle PLLC.  Prior to joining her husband in private practice earlier this year, Mrs. Hinkle spent more than ten years defending and counseling employers in labor and employment matters, most recently as an attorney at Steptoe & Johnson PLLC in Martinsburg, WV.  Mrs. Hinkle is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  Mrs. Hinkle has served as a Human Resources Advisor for the Eastern Panhandle Free Clinic since 2010.  Mrs. Hinkle holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Terry Walker spent 25 years in corporate marketing for Roadway, Inc.  Mr. Walker was appointed as a Delegate to the 56th District in the West Virginia Legislature where he served until 2011.  In addition to public service, Mr. Walker is a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker and is a substitute teacher for Jefferson County Schools.  Mr. Walker is a member of the executive board of directors for the Eastern Panhandle Community Foundation and established a scholarship fund in memory of his son, Terry Lee Walker.  He also serves on the board of directors for the Martinsburg Rescue Mission.  Mr. Walker holds a BS in Business Administration from Salem University.

Jeffrey Whyte, M.D. is the Medical Director for QuadMed, the primary care and wellness clinic for Quad/Graphics.  Dr. Whyte previously worked with the WVU Rural Family Medicine Program at Harpers Ferry Family Medicine and is an Assistant Professor at the WVU School of Medicine – Eastern Division.  He currently serves as the volunteer Medical Director for the Eastern Panhandle Free Clinic. He also serves as the President of the Eastern Panhandle Medical Society and serves on the Board of Trustees for the West Virginia Medical Foundation.  Dr. Whyte holds a Medical Doctorate license from the American University of the Caribbean and completed his residency with WVU Rural Family Medicine Program.
