What is Health Access?

Health Access was established in August 1992 as a non-profit charitable United Way Organization to help West Virginians access quality health care. This program is funded in part under an agreement with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

Mission

Health Access, Inc. is a primary care clinic that provides health care at no cost to low income, uninsured adults of Harrison and Doddridge Counties.

Who is eligible?

One may qualify for services at Health Access if:

  • You do not have private health insurance
  • You do not qualify for a Medicaid Medical Card, Medicare, or VA Benefits
  • Your household income is within 100% of the poverty level
  • You are over 18 years of age and reside in Harrison or Doddridge Counties
Clinic Services

Health Access, Inc. provides these comprehensive services:

  • Exams
  • Diagnostic testing
  • Treatment
  • Individual counseling
  • Medication assistance
  • Advocacy & referrral

Health Access, Inc. also provides free breast and cervical cancer screening if:

  • You meet the age and income requirements
  • You do not have health insurance
  • Your health insurance does not cover these screenings
Benefits of Supporting Your Local Free Clinic
  • 285,000 non-elderly WV citizens are uninsured.
  • The cost of providing health care to uninsured citizens shifts to the private sector and is paid by the state's businesses in the form of higher health insurance premiums.
  • Preventive care reduces uninsured ER visits and hospitalizations, thus reducing the shift of health care costs to WV businesses
